Tagspiner contains Spinosad 45 % SC which is naturally derived from the fermentation of the actinomycete Saccharopolyspora spinosa. It is extensively used for the control of resistant Helicoverpa in cotton. Spinosad 45% SC stimulates the nervous system of the insect, causing involuntary muscle contractions, prostration with tremors, and, eventually, paralysis. These effects are consistent with nicotinic acetylcholine receptor activation via a mechanism that is clearly novel and distinct among known insecticidal compounds.
